If you enjoy journaling or writing a diary, you would probably know about Samuel Pepys.
Pepys was born in 1633 and was an English naval administrator, but is now most famous for his diary. The detailed private diary that he kept during 1660–1669 was first published in the nineteenth century, and is an important source for historians because of his eyewitness accounts of the Great Plague of London, the Second Dutch War and the Great Fire of London.
This blog is an repeat of his diary in real-time. You have to wait till tomorrow to read what he wrote on that day, all those centuries ago. A novel approach to publishing, indeed!
If you’d rather not wait, read the diary and information about the man here.
Today is Pepys’ 375th birthday. I’ve recently written an article about journaling (to be published March 2008) and it’s been inspirational for my own writing. To celebrate the occasion, I’m going to write a descriptive diary entry - something more than the usual we-did-that-then-this.
Will you write something special today?
