Writing for Religious publications

November 30th, 2007 by Chryselle · No Comments

Writing for a religious publication is no different from any other assignment. The same rules apply - know your market, read the guidelines, be professional.

Religious publications have a special niche. They have a highly targeted audience and writers need to keep that in mind while pitching.

You don’t have to write about religion either. Many publications carry articles and features on travel, parenting, book reviews, environment and issue based features. Just keep the intended audience in mind.

With the internet, the whole world is at your fingertips. Don’t restrict yourself to publications that you are familiar with. Irrespective of your religious leanings, you can write for any other publication.

Faithwriters.com is good site for inspiration and for networking with other writers on the subject.

Here are some markets to get you started:

Whatever denomination you want to write for, run a search and you will come up with many paying publications to submit to.

Submit to Social Networks (digg, stumble upon, del.icio.us, ...)
