Writing for your local paper or magazine can often be the first step into becoming a published (and paid) writer. Being a local writer can land you more assignments than you think. The same degree of professionalism and quality is to be expected however - irrespective of what publication you write for. Show the editor that you can deliver well written copy on time, every time and you’re bound to get more assignments.
