Out of Fashion - a Review

September 23rd, 2007 by Chryselle · No Comments

An unusual theme for an anthology of poems, ‘Out of Fashion’ is a lovely little book edited by the wonderful Carol Ann Duffy. The book contains poems from contemporary poets who not only contribute their own work, but select their favorite poem, from another time, which looks at the way we dress and all the implications and emotions that clothing brings.

Famous poets like Yeats, Larkin, Chaucer, Lawrence to John Donne and Shakespeare feature along with Moniza Ali, Nina Cassian, Matthew Sweeney and Jane Weir. And of course, Duffy also has a couple of contributions.

If you enjoy clothing and the whole drama of fashion, pick up a copy of Out of Fashion. It will keep you company as poetry never goes out of style.
